Choosing Safe Toys for Your Cat

Published by pinkink at 9:49 pm under Cat Health, cats Edit This

December is Safe Toys and Gifts Month, according to Cat Channel. There are many seemingly safe toys for cats that actually aren’t safe. In fact, some cat toys can lead to cat choking or intestinal damage.

For instance, a ball of string or yarn can get stuck in your cat’s throat. When your cat swallows string or yarn, it can cause intestinal damage and/or blockage. String and yarn is very dangerous for your cat to play with, so never give these things to your cat as play toys.

You also should not give your cats toys to play with that have small pieces on them, detachable small pieces, or small metal pieces that may fall off while your cat plays with them.

So, what are safe toys for your cat to play with?

Some safe toys your cats can play with include:
*Soft catnip toys
*Golf balls
*Balls with or without bells in them
*Catnip mice
*Refillable catnip toys
*Ping-pong balls
*Round plastic shower rings
*Stuffed animals your cat can either carry or wrestly with

Most of the cat toys sold in pet stores are safe for cats; just make sure they don’t contain small pieces that might fall off while your cat is playing with them.
