Pets and Owners Reunited After Hurricane Gustav
Reportedly, most of the pets and owners affected by Hurricane Gustav have been reunited. Some pets are also waiting at local shelters for when their owners come back to get them.
Animal organizations worked to ensure over 1,200 cats and dogs were safe when their owners had to evacuate from New Orleans and surrounding areas due to Hurricane Gustav. Additionally, animal shelters in Alabama worked with owners who brought their pets with them to ensure the pets were fed and cared for while they were away from home.
This evacuation seems to have gone much better both for the pets and their owners this time around than it did with Hurricane Katrina.
